As you may have noticed, I've added Psionics to the site. I was trying to come up with a new system for it, but I just don't have the time required to do that. Instead, I am now simply allowing the Psion class with some changes and restrictions. I'm only allowing the use of Telepathy, Clairsentience, and an amalgamation of Psychokinesis and Psychoportation called "Telekinesis". Additionally, I am using the Psionics are Different rules, though it's very easy for Dragons, Demons, and some Visitors to gain Power Resistance against Psionics.
If you were hoping to run a Psion in this campaign and were discouraged by its ban, you are free to roll one with my blessings. Please carefully read the notes on the site about the Psion. If you see any ambiguity in the rules which might be exploitable or confusing, please let me know. I tried not to mess with it too much. You'll find that the Psion presented reflects a more traditional look at what Psionics is. The role of the Psion as presented in 3.0 and 3.5 is still to be filled by the Primordialist.
Please note that the other classes (except, perhaps the Wilder) shall likely never be allowed. I do feel we should have a more spiritual Monk class with supernatural abilities, but I don't want the Psychic Warrior to be that class. There is a core in one of the issues Kobold Quarterly which may fill that role which gives the Monk some divine spellcasting.
I also wanted to thank everyone for their patience with the table. I really wanted to get it done and I know we had some play lag for a little while there. We're playing this week on 1 coat of polyurethane. After that, we're going to be doing other games (Star Wars and perhaps Kingmaker) while I get at least 3 more coats on. I need to completely re-do the surface of the table because of a strange chemical reaction between the poly and something that has seeped into the wood from the years of use. When Jay has time, we'll be installing the lights sometime soon.
I hope to be able to do at least two more adventures as big as the one we are finishing this weekend during the summer. The amount of downtime granted during this time period will likely remain the same as it has been. A respite is on the way, but not anytime soon.
There's been some confusion about the chips. Please read the chip rules again if you think you're confused. The confusion is my fault because I believe I said at some point that voting occurs at the end of every session, not every adventure. Note that I don't think anyone has been burned by not voting because the last time we ended an adventure, I think I declared that everyone got the bonus.
I also wanted to bring up the topic of other gaming. Right now, our staples are Harvest Moon and Star Wars. This is what we all decided on about a year ago because of a bit of a row over what we ought to be playing and how much we ought to be playing and when. This is the result of these negotiations. People don't show up on Saturdays, especially in the summer and pretty much everyone is exhausted on Fridays, but at least bodies show up, so that's where we are at. There has been some talk of doing a Dresden Files campaign on, like Wednesdays or something and a Kingmaker campaign on some other day as well. We should talk about this on Friday because while I can't get enough gaming (seriously, I'd do it every single day except Sunday if I had my wish), we need a head count of who would come. There is no reason to start new stuff if nobody's going to make it. I know it's "just a game" but we need real commitments from people because the rest of the people who sign up and alter their schedules to be there expect everyone else who say they can make it to actually be there
Well, that's enough of the soapbox for now! I'll see you all online or on Friday. It's supposed to be nice Friday, so feel free to come early with your bathing suits. I'll have burgers, dogs, and chicken on the grill if you want it. If you'd like to bring a salad or some other side, go ahead.
P.S., the soda is almost kicked but there is LOTS of beer!
