The group scoured several smaller rooms for information about the place. In one of them, they carefully examined the remains of what seems to have been, at one point, the living quarters of an important individual. Upon closer examination, they came to realize that the entire area was a Phase Spider nest. Fortunately for the PCs, Phase spiders rarely intrude into our world so close to their lairs. They began to think that the strangely calculated atacks by Phase Spiders and Darkmantles throughout the dungeon have been at the control of another being, perhaps the same on which had been attempting to control the PCs themselves.

They slowly explored deeper into the reliquary. The came to a 3-pronged split which had a stairway down leading from the middle passageway. The darkness here seemed to retreat only reluctantly. They chose the right path and soon came to a large, open space. It had once been an opulent gallery, but had suffered several cave-ins as well as seemed to be plagued by Umber Hulks judging from the rough, collapsed tunnels in the walls.

The group stayed clear of the walls and made their way to the center of the room where a big rock pile came to life and attacked them. Their most pitched battle yet ensued. The beast was far stronger than any other they'd encountered and they fought furiously for their lives, greatly regretting not using their healing wands in the hallway earlier. In the end, with a lot of resources and a lot of luck spent, they defeated the beast with no casualties, though several of them visited death's door during the fight, some of them multiple times. Among the rubbish in the room, they found quite a bit of treasure scattered about including a beautiful, emerald-tipped staff of life which Inga now carries.

They again avoided the middle path and made their way to the left-hand corridor. Here they found a passage leading to a more intimate exhibit area where the relics had been pilfered many years ago. The only thing they found for their troubles was a hungry mimic which they defeated with relative ease.
